Youth Climate Save

Youth Climate Save is a global youth-led organization that focuses on the link between animal agriculture and climate change. We also discuss other environmental issues such as plastic pollution, fast fashion, fossil fuel emissions, and other environmental issues affecting the world today.

Youth Climate Save (YCS) is the first and only youth-led organization whose primary focus is on the link between climate change and animal agriculture. YCS educates the public about the link and promotes veganism and a plant-based food system as a way to help the environment and stop the climate crisis. The organization was founded by Genesis Butler in 2020 after she spent a couple of years as a climate activist and discovered animal agriculture was largely left out of the climate conversation and was not a focus of any climate organization. Genesis started the organization and now consists of over 80 chapters worldwide.

YCS is open to all. You do not have to be vegan to be an organizer or chapter member. YCS welcomes everyone no matter what environmental and climate topics they’d like to focus on. This allows the organization to also focus on other topics such as plastic pollution, fast fashion, water pollution, and fossil fuels. For example, YCS has a chapter in India whose main focus is water pollution in their region and educates the public on how to stop water pollution. The chapter joins other local organizations to help clean their waterways.

YCS is open to youth from the age of 8 up until 26 years of age. Anyone who is interested in joining should reach out to YCS via email at youthclimatesave@gmail.com.

YCS has bi-monthly meetings via Zoom. The link to the meetings is provided to each organizer and member of YCS. YCS also has a group chat via IG where organizers and members discuss and share information relevant to the organization. YCS organizers and members are able to apply for microgrants through YCS to help fund projects such as beach clean-ups and vegan food giveaways.
