BioArtelier

Who are we?

One might think that art and science are incompatible. Indeed, they seem to be on opposing ends of a scale – art is born out of creativity and abstract thoughts, and a seemingly open set of rules, and science is a practice rooted in logic, facts, and structure. However, they often have more in common than what meets the eye and can be beautifully intertwined.

BioArtelier is an incredibly unique student-led organization with members from over 15+ countries, who together strive to promote and explore the exciting mediums of bio art & design.

Our Aim

BioArtelier aims to help bridge the gap between the Arts and Sciences in STEAM fields by empowering the youth to explore the exciting mediums of bio art & design through both collaboration, and exploration of their individual interests.

By giving our members the freedom to explore and create tangible outcomes for their BioArt-related passions, we hope to raise awareness about this often-overlooked bridge between the arts and sciences. Our long-term goal is to consistently engage our online community through the creation of digital workshops, webinars, podcasts, and a digital publication, where we aim to establish a tight-knit community where young bio artists can support and share their passions within the field.

Our Future Plans

In order to reach a broader international audience, BioArtelier will mainly focus on expanding its presence online and creating greater brand awareness through our Instagram (@bioartelier). However, over the next year, we also plan to expand our activities to more diverse platforms, as well as cater to an in-person audience-the Singaporean community- to achieve more tangible outcomes. This will hopefully be through the creation of our DIY microbial art-making kits, which we will rovide to local art communities and shelters.
