AND THEN THERE WERE NONE by Agatha Christie

BOOK REVIEW

PLOT

And then there were none is a wonderful book by Agatha Christie, where ten people get invited by mysterious Mr. and Mrs. Owens to stay at their house on Soldier Island. From the moment the characters disembark on the small island, things started feeling unusual. On the very first night, the strangers were each accused of terrible crimes; this was the moment everything took a turn for the worst. The events in the book revolve murders that occur as described in the following nursery rhyme:

CHARACTERS

There were ten main characters in the book: Vera Claythorne, Lawrence Wargrave, Emily Brent, Philip Lombard, Dr. Edward Armstrong, William Henry Blore, General Macarthur, Anthony Marston, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers.

Agatha Christie describes their thoughts and pasts extremely well, making them feel very real to the readers. However it is very difficult to relate to any of them, because of the particular situations they are described in, their past and present actions, etc...

Vera Claythorne was my favorite out of all the characters, she was the first one who figured out the link between the crimes and the nursery rhyme, she was not afraid to stand up and defend herself against anyone who wishes to harm her.

MY OPINIONS

what I liked

An aspect that I enjoyed about this book was the fact that the mystery and action started very early on compared to other Agatha Christie books, and kept going until the very end. Another was the incredibly well written crimes, and their unexpectedness, as well as that of their perpetrator. Which made the book super interesting and fun to read, and impossible to put down.

what I disliked

It is honestly very difficult to come up with things to critique, but I do have to say that the fact that the person responsible for the crimes is only revealed in the prologue was a little bit frustrating.

rating

10/10!

Reading this book was such a nice experience, I absolutely love the plot, the characters, and the author. I very strongly recommend it for all ages!!!
